Under the Full Moon – just after the Equinox – at the moment of Winter Solstice, December 21, 2010 at 6:38 pm, – on a beach along Crooked Lake – in a ring of candles …… I married the spirit I had waited all my life for. We spent the day before and the wedding day creating rituals of meaning. We planted long-leaf pine seedlings given away at the Dunedin market on our property in Babson Park, Florida. We harvested from our garden to create a wedding soup. We made a coconut/tofu wedding cake. We cut each others hair. We hiked Tiger Creek preserve after going to the notary’s to make it legal. We built a fire on the beach to enjoy our favorite snack after our ring and vow exchange – popcorn. Our vows included the words from Paul Winters song Mystery – I will later post, and the commitment poem from the Pueblo Indians. Our rings were created from melted gold from jewelry and rings of our ancestors and relatives. My grandmother’s engagement and wedding rings, Hunter’s deceased father’s wedding ring, his mother’s infant sweater clasp, a necklace from my sister, a sweet sixteen ring my parents had given me ….. recycled gold with incredible energy. Although we were alone on this precious moment, we had asked all our loved ones to step outside and gaze at the moon and they would be with us.
More to come ….
